Numerous associations, student and engineer organizations keep the memory of this great man of world science. Many books have been written about him, many stories and possible and impossible theories told about him, but there is only one truth. Nikola Tesla was a great scientist, the man without whose inventions we would hardly be able to live as we do ? with a lot of comfort and freedom provided to us by electricity. Collaboration was achieved on the project ?World Radio System,? which Tesla led in his lab on Long Island. Already after a year, nevertheless, in 1901, Morgan stopped financing Tesla. The reason for breaking off the collaboration was the successful transatlantic sending of a radio message achieved by Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937). Tesla admitted to Morgan that he could have done something like that long ago, but that wasn?t the goal of his research. Morgan was furious because of this, as he saw it, concealment, and he never collaborated with Tesla again.
Tesla somehow managed to continue the project until 1905 when he completely exhausted the sources of financing, and he was forced to abandon it. Years in which he worked on improving the existing and patenting new inventions in the area of mechanical engineering followed. Those years were pretty difficult for him. The public was reminded of the great genius in 1917 when he was awarded Edison?s medal, the greatest American award in the area of engineering. In 1919, Nikola Tesla published his autobiography through a series of articles in the magazine Electrical Experimenter. To the people who were not close to him, the news about Tesla came through newspaper articles in which they were able to read his often overly sensationalistic statements.
He did dream and his dreams came true, he did have visions but they were of a real future, not an imaginary one.

It was through the research and development of these theories that he was able to produce spring-quality water and generate considerable energies in and with water and air.

By application of these new found laws, I have already constructed fairly large installations in the spheres of log-rafting and river regulation, which as is known, have functioned faultlessly for a decade, and which today still present insoluble enigmas to the various scientific disciplines concerned."
Water and its vital interaction with the forest was Viktor's principal preoccupation. He viewed water as a living entity, the 'Blood of Mother-Earth', which is born in the womb of the forest. Our mechanistic, materialistic and extremely superficial way of looking at things, however, prevents us from considering water to be anything other than inorganic, i.e. supposedly without life but, while apparently having no life itself, can nevertheless miraculously create life in all its forms. Life is movement and is epitomized by water, which is in a constant state of motion and transformation, both externally and internally. In confirmation of this fact, water is able to combine with more substances than any other molecule and, flowing as water, sap and blood, is the creator of the myriad life-forms on this planet. How then could it ever be construed as life-less in accordance with the chemist's clinical view of water, defined as the inorganic substance H2O ? This short description is a gross misrepresentation. As the fundamental basis of all life, water is itself a living entity and should be treated as such. Failure to do so quickly transforms it into an enemy, rather than the nurturer and furtherer of all life that it should be.

Tesla received his name after his paternal grandfather. He began his schooling in his hometown, where he spent the most careless years of his life. After a tragic accident in which the first-born son in the Tesla family, Dane, lost his life, the family moved to Gospic where the young Tesla continued his schooling. While in school in Gospic, and later at the High Real Gymnasium in Karlovac, he was tormented by the fact that he would have to continue his family tradition and become a priest. The worst problems encountered during the Philadelphia Experiment were the extraordinarily destructive and bizarre effects on the human beings who were aboard the battleship that was used in the experiment. Von Neumann, who unlike Tesla had little use for metaphysics or parapsychology, soon found himself unable to avoid coming to terms with both the psychic and spiritual aspects of human beings in addition to the material or physical level. Suffice it to say that some element of a person, often called a spirit or soul, must remain in sync with his/her original time-space lock which begins at the time of physical conception (incarnation) while transferring to or returning from other dimensions, if such wide scale destructive results are to be avoided. Von Neumann, exercising once again his prodigious mental abilities, came up with the world's first electronic computer, which had the capability to calculate certain time-space referencing factors with absolute precision -- a necessity for what was to be accomplished; in addition, psychotronic equipment was created which could receive, reconfigure and transmit radio-type frequencies generated by thoughts from the human mind (frequencies which do exist and can be picked up by what are commonly called "psychics" (no, they're not all phony); and by extension, devices which could externally and artificially alter or "control" people's minds. In our dynamo machines, it is well known, we generate alternate currents which we direct by means of a commutator, a complicated device and, it may be justly said, the source of most of the troubles experienced in the operation of the machines. Now, the currents, so directed cannot be utilized in the motor, but must - again by means of a similar unreliable device - be reconverted into their original state of alternate currents. The function of the commutator is entirely external, and in no way does it affect the internal workings of the machines. In reality, therefore, all machines are alternate current machines, the currents appearing as continuous only in the external circuit during the transfer from generator to motor. In view simply of this fact, alternate currents would commend themselves as a more direct application of electrical energy, and the employment of continuous currents would only be justified if we had dynamos which would primarily generate, and motors which would be directly actuated by, such currents. Viktor Schauberger: The true Father Of Implosion Technology
Viktor Schauberger could be called the true father of implosion technology. The implosion principle is, of course, diametrically opposite to what today's explosion oriented technology utilizes. Implosion has to do with a self sustaining vortex flow of any liquid or gaseous medium, which has a concentrating, ordering effect and which decreases the temperature of the medium, in opposition to the dictates of "modern" thermodynamics.
Viktor Schauberger constructed water sluices, which, with controlled water temperature and vortex flow, were able to transport logs of a higher specific weight than would normally allow their transport on water. He proposed a more effective means of utilizing hydroelectric power by his jet turbine (see my article Water Power). In the second world war he was forced to develop his concepts of vortex dynamics at the service of Hitler's military goons, and, is said to have produced working prototypes of levitating disks using these principles.
At the end of the war, the remains of his work fell partly into Russian, and American, military hands. After the war, Schauberger worked on a concept of water-based power generation, through vortex action, in a closed cycle engine. In 1958 he was brought to the USA, by promises of a possibility he would get his technology further developed and applied. Afterwards, he was thoroughly debriefed, his writings and prototypes were kept, and, he apparently had to sign a legal document and 'promise' not to promote his technology further - all so that he would simply be able to return home to Austria. Five days after his return to Austria - on 25 September 1958 - he died. A book that details some of the life story of Schauberger was written by Olof Alexandersson. Viktor Schauberger And His earlier Work -
Olof Alexandersson, a Swedish engineer and anthroposophist, wrote the first popular introduction to the radical ideas of Viktor Schauberger, entitled Living Water . It is now in its eighth printing and has inspired many to go on to Callum Coats' in-depth study of Schauberger's ideas, Living Energies, which was published in 1996. Callum had met Viktor's son, Walter Schauberger, in 1977 and was to spend three years studying with him at his "Pythogoras-Keppler System Institute" in Lauffen, in the Saltzkammergut near Salzburg. During that time, Callum was given access to all Viktor's writings.
Viktor Schauberger did not start to seriously write about his ideas and his discoveries until the age of 44, when he acquired a distinguished sponsor in Professor Philipp Forchheimer. As Coats describes later in this volume, Forchheimer, a world famous hydrologist, had been asked by the Austrian Government to report on Schauberger's controversial log flumes, which transported large amounts of timber from inaccessible locations without damage. He was so impressed with Schauberger's discoveries that he asked him to write a paper which was published in 1930 in Die Wasserwirtschaft , the Austrian Journal of Hydrology. This paper attracted the attention of the President of the Austrian Academy of Science, Professor Wilhelm Exner, and resulted in a commission to write a more detailed study of his theories for that same magazine under the title Temperature and the Movement of Water.
Schauberger's ideas completely flew in the face of conventional ideas of hydrology and water management and, as a result, gained him many enemies in scientific circles. The reason Viktor developed the strong feelings about orthodox scientific research that you will read in this and subsequent volumes was partly to defend himself from their attacks, and partly out of his despair at witnessing the ongoing destruction of the natural environment by their blind and uncaring technologies. It was this despair that motivated him to write his only book, Our Senseless Toil - the Cause of the World Crisis . It was published at a time of severe depression ,when many were worried about the future.
After Forchheimer died, Schauberger found another ally in Professor Werner Zimmermann who encouraged Viktor in 1935-1936 to write about the damage being wrought to the great rivers, the Rhine and the Danube, in a small 'new thought' magazine Tau . After Schauberger's death, two magazines published further collections of Schauberger's writings: Implosion was started by a student and collaborator of Viktor's, and published a number of his articles in the 1960s. Mensch und Technik in the 1970s published articles by and about Viktor Schauberger for the more free-thinking scientific community.
Callum Coats has skillfully woven together these articles, together with correspondence with other scientists, friends and officials of one kind or another, into a fascinating tapestry which gives a true and very readable account of Schauberger's impassioned campaign to alert the world to the dangers of the prevailing scientific dogma. Unfortunately, not much has changed, and Schauberger's vision of how humanity could work cooperatively with Nature is perhaps more relevant than ever.
Callum Coats arranged this massive amount of material into a large volume, called the Eco-Technology Series. In considering this for publication, they realized that it would be much more accessible in several volumes, arranged by theme. Nikola Tesla, American scientist of Serbian origin, gave his greatest contribution to science and technological progress of the world as the inventor of the rotating magnetic field and of the complete system of production and distribution of electrical energy (motors, generators) based on the use of alternate currents. His name was given to the SI unit for magnetic induction ("tesla"). Tesla also constructed the generators of high-frequency alternate currents and high-voltage coreless transformer known today as "Tesla Coil".
Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856, at Smiljan, in the Military Border zone of Austro-Hungarian Empire, now in the Republic of Croatia. He received his education in Austria i.e. Austro-Hungary: primary school at Smiljan and Gospic (1862-70), and secondary school (Realgymnasium) at Karlovac (1870-1873). From 1875 to 1878 studied at the Polytechnic at Graz, and in 1880 he enrolled in the studies of natural philosophy at the Charles' University in Prague.
In the period 1881-82 he was employed at the Central Telegraph Office in Budapest. Here he began his career as inventor improving the voice amplifier for the telephone receiver, and in February 1882 arrived on the idea of the rotating magnetic field.
In the middle of 1882 he travelled to Paris to join Edison's Continental Company, and in 1883 moved to Strasbourg and made the prototype of the induction motor. In 1884 he travelled to USA to start working in Edison's company. In 1885 he left Edison, founded his own "Tesla Arc & Light Co." and started producing motors and generators for polyphase alternate currents.
The first patent, "Commutator for dynamo - electric machines", applied to the Patent Office on May 6, 1885 was followed by a series of patents on electric arc lamp regulators. From 1887 to 1890 he applied his well-known patents on polyphase alternate currents, generators and motors. On May 16, 1888, he presented his inventions in his first lecture on "A new system of motors and transformers of alternate currents" to the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE). Immediately after that lecture, the Westinghouse Co. bought his 40 patents on polyphase currents. In Pittsburgh (1888-89), together with engineers of the Westinghouse Co., he was engaged on the practical realization of these patents. In this period the preparations for the construction of the first power plant at the Niagara Falls according to the Tesla's system were made. The power plant was on January 12, 1895 put into operation and at that time it was reckoned as a wonder of the world.
Another wide field of his researches were alternate currents of high frequencies and their effects. On May 20, 1891, he gave a lecture to the AIEE in New York on the "Experiments with alternate currents of very high frequencies and their application in artificial lighting" In 1890 he also published the results of physiological effects of high-frequency currents.
From 1891 to 1896 Tesla applied patents on the spark oscillator coupled with a resonant transformer which substituted Hertz's oscillator and Ruhmkorf's inductor in his researches. In addition he also applied numerous patents for various auxiliary equipment e.g. circuit breakers, condensers etc.
In 1892, at the invitation of the Royal Society in London and French Physical Society he travelled to London and Paris to give the lecture on "Experiments with alternate currents of high potential and high frequency." During his stay in Europe he also visited Belgrade on June 2, 1892.
In 1893, with his system of four circuits in resonance he showed that the aerial, connection with the ground and resonance were three essential elements of wireless telegraphy and prepared the way for the invention of modern radio.
In 1895 he continued his researches of high frequency currents and their effects on rarefied gases using Lenard tubes. He was one of the first scientist on the American continent who made X-ray photos of hands, sculls, knees and elbows. He was the first to point to the harmful effects of a long exposure to these rays on human organisms.
In 1897 he applied various patents from the area of wireless telegraphy, and in 1898 the patent of the method and apparatus for controlling mechanism of moving vessels or vehicles. In New York he performed the experiment with a remote-controlled boat. As a result of these patents, the Supreme Court if the USA granted him - though post-mortem - the priority in the invention of wireless telegraphy i.e. of radio.
From 1899 to 1900 Tesla stayed at Colorado Springs. At a height of 2000 m above sea level he built a laboratory with a 200 kW transmitter. He also constructed generators and transformers which produced frequencies of tens of thousands hertz and potentials up to 12 million volts, and improved his coreless transformer for high-frequency currents, known as Tesla transformer. In his notes on the experiments from this period he stated that the stationary waves spread through the Earth so that this effect could be used for wireless transmission of energy.
The patents from the area of wireless transmission of energy he applied from 1900 to 1902. From 1901 to 1905, intending to realize his "World-Wireless-System," he was occupied with the construction of a great experimental station, a power plant and a great aerial tower on Long Island near New York. However, this project had never been completed.
Later (1909-1922), he was occupied with mechanical engineering, inventing new types of turbines, pumps, speed indicators, flow-meters etc. His pumps without paddles are nowadays being commercially used.
Tesla spent his last years in the hotel "New Yorker" in New York, where he died on January 7, 1943.
